FIGHT NETWORK RADIO, BEYOND SHERWOOD AND STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
I put in another appearance on Fight Network Radio today, giving my thoughts on the demise of Elite XC. If you want to check it out, click HERE (my bit starts just before the halfway mark of the show). Also, you can click HERE to read an absolutely excellent article about the Elite XC meltdown written by FiveOuncesOfPain.com's Sam Caplan. Sam really burned the midnight oil in doing his research, and this is probably the most comprehensive article on the Elite XC situation that's out there right now.
I'm happy to say that, with a LOT of support from writer/director/actor Peter Deluise and my ridiculously efficient agent Natasha Trisko, I've landed a role on a retelling of the Robin Hood saga entitled "Beyond Sherwood". I will be playing "Bart", the leader of a band of outlaws who tangle with Robin and his merry men. As soon as I heard that I was in contention for the role, I began taking horseback riding lessons (something I should have started a long time ago), and under the extremely adept tutelage of Karena Harvey (and thanks to the limitless patience of Jet, the poor horse selected to carry my big ass), I've managed to pick up the basics in a relatively short amount of time. Not that I'm gonna be doing any crazy horse stunts, but I can at least keep from falling off and getting trampled underfoot. Due to my character's choice of weaponry I'm due for bullwhip lessons too, which I expect to be either a lot of fun or extremely painful. The only downside to this job is that one of the work days is the same day as the only Vancouver appearance of Louis CK (perhaps the most underrated comedian in the world), and the other falls on the same date as the Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar UFC heavyweight title fight (it's gonna kill me to miss that fight, but I'll take solace in the fact that it's because I've got work!).
Tomorrow I'll be getting my ass kicked by none other than former WWF world champ Stone Cold Steve Austin, on the feature film "Damage". It will be a pretty quick ass-whupping so my moment of glory onscreen with Stone Cold will probably amount to about four seconds, but hey, it's work. Besides, how many of us have the distinction of being KOed by the top draw in the history of professional wrestling?
Next week I'll be doing a day on the disaster film "Beyond Atlantis" as well--thanks go out to Stone Cold's stunt double Kevin Rushton and stunt coordinator John Stoneham Jr. for that.
